Title: Edward Scissorhand mount
Post by: TRKYHTR on May 23, 2011, 07:59:59 PM
I spent all weekend, well almost all, mounting my gobbler from this year. I finally got him on his perch today and wanted to take a few pics. I still have some grooming to do.  Edward has 1 5/8" and 1 1/2" spurs with a 9 1/2" beard. He was my second CA gobbler from this year. My first is the dead mount I just did. Hope you like it.

Thanks everybody. I thought the limb walk would set off his hooks. That was my main intention on this mount. Here is a few pics of his head I painted. You can't see his head very good in the other pics.

Very nice Joe.  That mount really shows off those big hooks.  How many of the birds that you take do you mount?

Hawk I've only mounted 3 of my gobblers. I had 5 others mounted over the years. Cally Morris mounted 4 of them and my first was mounted by a local guy. 2 of my mounts are trashed, one being my Goulds turkey that was smashed by a labrador puppy. The dead turkey I mounted because I had alot of history with this gobbler. He was practically in my back yard and I knew he was at least 6 years old. I decided that he had lived long enough. I thought that if I was able to kill him I would mount him. He has 1 1/4" hooks and 10 1/8" beard and was 22.3 lbs. So it was a no brainer to mount him. Then the very next day I killed Edward Scissorhand. I just had to mount those 1 5/8" hooks. So I have 6 full body mounts now. 3 Rios, 1 Merriam, 1 Eastern, and 1 Osceola.
