Title: Antique Tractors (pics)
Post by: Skeeterbait on May 23, 2011, 11:03:50 AM
For you older guys like me, or even younger guys who appreciate restored machinery, I attended the Elmore Alabama Volunteer Fire Department's Antique Tractor Show this past weekend.  Took too many pictures to post in the forum here but if you are interested, here is a link to the pictures in a photobucket album.

We have a Farmall Super C, and a Ford 8n.  Like Redarrow I need to do some TLC on on of my 8n.  I use it at the hunting lease.  It does everything I need it to do, albeit just a little slower than a new one but it's a lot of fun to use.  It's a '49 8n.

You don't have to be old to appreciate a nice old tractor. :)

I like the old tractors.

My inlaws have a fully restored Super A Farm All and use the heck out of it.  Cool little tractor.

Cool photos!

My grandfather's first tractor was an IH Farmall H model w/ steel wheels.  The first time he drove it a few miles to one of his fields he said it almost beat him to death.  He ordered rubber tires for it the next day.  His next tractor was an M.

Several years ago I found him a collector's addition toy Model H for Christmas.  I don't think I had ever seen his eyes light up over a Christmas gift until that day.  My grandmother almost had a fit when he insisted that it would be displayed in their living room.  He now has a half dozen or so that we bought for him in the order that he owned them in his early farming career.  I believe there was one that we skipped because I couldn't find it.  He turned 89 this year.
