Planning on purchasing a 20 gauge 870 with a 26" barrel this off season. I want to add a Simmons 4 x 32 mm with the Pro-diamond to it. My experiences with the 870s they are not dripped and tapped for scope taps, but I have not seen a new one and was reading about one that said it was. I know the ones that are slug guns have a place to mount. Does anyone know if they are drilled and tapped or do I need to get a gun smith to do it? If I need to get a gunsmith to do it what should I tell them? Thanks for any help!
I am not aware that Remington predrills the holes for scope bases on the 870.
I would take the gun, the scope base and the scope to your friendly neighborhood gunsmith and ask him to drill and tap the receiver and to mount the base and scope for you. Should be a standard, routine thing for them.

you will need a gunsmith if you buy a Remington
