Title: Franchi Affinity 3 with Apex 8.5 TSS
Post by: bwhana on February 06, 2021, 09:14:18 PM
Initial sight in with my new Franchi, Burris FF3 with Sumtoy base, and Carlson's Long Beard XR 568 ported choke. This was the final shot with the Apex Ninja 8.5 load at 40 yds.  Target center aim point on 12" square splatter.  The pattern was dead center and even overall, including on the larger paper the splatter was attached to (I may mark and count it later on, but it is a dead bird all day. Will try Federal TSS #9 on the next session for comparison. It was 52 deg, cloudy, and no wind here today. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210207/8343139c17cb8407e78b23038994d6f8.jpg)

That looks good!!! I'd say you defiantly got it squared and lined up.

Thanks!  I can't say enough good about this gun.  It was love at first shot and can't wait to see what it does in SD and NE on my trip.

Here is the entire pattern on the full paper with the splatter target removed and the pink dot as point of aim. I was using a realty sign frame and the paper is 24" W x 30" H.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210207/017003438b5bbd8215a4c6e6442ff626.jpg)

Edit:  I realized after the fact that this was the 9 shot Apex load and not the 8.5, sorry for the mix up on the original posting, I was trying many loads during the session.  I'm bored on a conference call, so I printed a copy of the 12" square splatter target and counted the quadrants.  No 10" or 20" circle numbers, but close enough. 352 total in that target and a fairly even distribution. Other targets were very similar, didn't cherry pick, just grabbed one for this purpose and threw thehr others away.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210210/3026091843c3d43fea0c451ba4118cf4.jpg)

Just bought 3 boxes of the 8.5 Ninja to try with my 870 and Sumtoy 562.  Hoping it will be similar to yours when all is said in done.  PS.  Wanted 9's but couldn't find them and there only a few boxes of 8.5's left so I pulled the trigger.

How did they shoot in your Sumtoy and what length barrel?
