Title: Deer hunting the Black Hills
Post by: wisconsinteacher on September 24, 2020, 11:35:53 AM
My brother-in-law and I drew whitetail tags for the Black Hills.  Looking at the area south of Spearfish and west of Hill City.  Any tips or suggestions for hunting deer in the hills?  I know it will be very different from deer hunting back home.

I saw hundreds of deer around Spearfish last May. Most were down from the mountains and in between the forrest and town. I'm sure there movements have changed since then. No specific advice, but I would talk to all the locals I could, whether it be in town or farmers you see on the roads. Everyone in the area was very friendly and hospitable. Good luck!

So...where did you see all these deer?  North, central or southern hills?

Can't stress it enough....everywhere.

But most of my time was around Custer.
