Post by: Kyfoster11 on March 12, 2022, 02:27:51 PM
Looking at one for my son. Has anyone had one drilled and tapped?
Receiver seems to be thick enough.
Anyone had there's done?
Thanks

Curious about this too. On my sons I put a mount from sun optics on it that's worked well.

Mount looks good on there.
Don't know if we will ever put an optic on it having so many turkey guns already (I'm addicted to em lol) but would like to have that option.
Feel inside seems like it's definitely thick enough though
How have you liked the tristar?  I've never owned one

Really like them they shoot great. His is setup with a IC .555 shooting federal TSS 9 and consistently gets 300-320 in 10" circle at 40 yards. It shoots quite a bit better then my SA 20 with same setup. Have had no issues with the tri star at all. Pretty good deal imo

I bought a Tristar Raptor Turkey a few weeks back. I say a few weeks, but it's probably been longer than that as we squirrel hunted with it when the season was still open. It has cycled everything, but the lightest target loads so far. I've been pleased with it. I too have plans to drill and tap it for an optic. I've got a couple of those dovetail mounts to mount an optic, but for some reason I just don't like them. My son has been shooting the little Raptor with the stock sights and shooting it well. So I believe I'm going to leave it alone for now, at least until after spring turkey season.

Here's mine on a set of scales. The only thing I believe that was not factory when I weighed it, was an extended choke. Hopefully you can read the text on the picture.
Edit I tried posting a picture, but it was huge. 5 pounds 9 ounces is what mine weighed. If i can figure out how to resize them, I'll post it. I was surprised the raptor weighed very similar to our youth model 870.

Wow, just bought an escort 20ga youth.  Weighs 6lb 8 Oz on my scale. Wish I got the tristar.

24". As far as having then drilled and tapped, it is possible. I gave two of them it has been done to.
