Good advice provided already, especially on running very little lubricants.

They really should include a warning with all guns in the package on blaze orange paper that tells owners to completely breakdown and thoroughly clean the gun before use (not saying you did not, just adding this for anyone reading later on with less experience).  My Stoeger and Franchi were filthy from the factory and I surgically cleaned them before ever cycling the actions. Zero problem with them.

It is also important to shoot higher powered shells for a bit before going to lower power shells (according to many experts), but I only use mine for turkeys and they have only seen turkey loads the whole time. The only shell that would not cycle in the Stoeger was the Federal TSS due to the shell length, but I don't shoot those anyway. Have fun breaking it in and hope it goes well for you!

My Franchi also had an issue with the shell length on the Federal TSS. Easily remedied by buying a different brand. Other than that it's been Gucci.

I'm finally getting around to posting a brief story summarizing my 2024 Spring turkey hunt. For starters, I missed a bird on opening day. I've been hunting turkeys for 21 years, and this is the first time I missed with a shotgun. (bow hunting is another story entirely). The Tactacam video shows the shot pattern hitting very low, completely missing the tom. I re-patterned the gun and made a subtle adjustment, but that didn't explain the miss. I flinched, BADLY, and that's all on me. At least I didn't wound the bird, which brings me to the primary reason I'm posting this story. As you know, I did manage to kill a tom, and on the very last day of my season. That's a first for me. Another first, at least as far as I know, is taking a bird that had been shot during a previous season and managed to survive. Looking at the attached photo, note the two very distinct pellets I pulled out of the tom's breast tissue (I shot a bit low!). The small silvery pellet came from my gun, a #9 TSS piece of shot. The much larger gray colored pellet was also embedded in the breast and appears to be a #6 tungsten shot pellet, although rougher in appearance (lots of flat sides) compared to the TSS pellet. Turkeys are very tough animals!

I have been away and out of the loop for a week.  Lots has happened in my absence...and I'm trying to get caught up. 
First off, a big congrats to all the teammates who have scored recently.     
I have updated the team score information and hopefully have included everyone and have recorded the scores correctly,  Everybody should review the list and make sure I have everything right.

Once the winter flocks come together and hen's and gobblers pair up and go in different directions, you will usually have less turkeys in one area, compared to what you were seeing in the winter flocks. Turkeys have an instinct to survive until all are depleted or they are fortunate to have a good survival in a particular area. 
Some years turkeys are not as vocal as other years.

A good habitat / food source plays a part also...

Yes, crows / ravens all eat turkey eggs

Back in my early years a bunch of us guys in the fall after deer season would ride around the country roads and call crows with a homemade speaker fixed to a cheap cassette play using crow sound tapes and would have a blast shooting them.. What we did for entertainment back then ... LOL...
