Title: Browning BPS Invector
Post by: hawk on March 21, 2016, 07:48:44 PM
I have a older 3" BPS Inv. 26" and would like to see some input from those that shoot this gun. I have LB 3"/6s. Chokes are Hastings non ported .655, SSX .643, Jelly Head .660, Carlsons non ported .660 and a Undertaker non ported .665 . I live in Maine and we just got 6" of snow so waiting for warm temps.

I shoot a BPS Invector plus with a 28" barrel. I have tried many chokes over the years and since Winchester came out with the Longbeards I have switched back to the very first turkey choke I bought for this gun. It is the Undertaker .665" non ported choke. I found with the Longbeards it threw the best pattern for me.
This was a lasered 32 yds.

Hope this helps you out somewhat.

Smokin ... you may wind up with a headless gobbler if he's shot within 32-yds.  :z-guntootsmiley:

I have a sumtoy .660 for a standard invector.  It'll put 230 Hevi 7's and about 140 MagBlends @ 40.  I found it used on this site in the classifieds...  Good even hunting patterns.

This is out of a 20.5" barrel.

I shoot a 24" barrel invector plus bps with a .665 Indian Creek and get 140+ with the #5/ 3" long beards and 160+ with the #6/3" long beards.

Really happy to hear that others are using the Browning BPS invector. It is an underutilized Turkey gun. I have re-blued mine to a matt finish and painted the stock camo. I use a Kicks .665 choke with #4 Long Beard. Harvested an Eastern and two Merriam's this year. Awesome shotgun that will hold its own with any of the newer models.

I've been using a Browning 12 ga, 3" BPS with a Kicks 665 (shooting Longbeard XR #5) as my primary turkey gun for 25 plus years. It's rock solid and it's a turkey slayer and has served many dirt naps over the years. It was dipped by Jim Crumley Enterprise many years ago and has had 2 different barrels over the years. Had it dipped in Bottomland this past year since the old camo dip was showing it's age a bit. I have other turkey guns in the safe, but always reach for my trusty BPS.
