Title: Hens without poults
Post by: Footballer on June 24, 2011, 01:28:29 PM
I've noticed somewhat of a discrepancy with the amount of poults with our hens. Some hens have 10-15 poults while others have 2 or 3 and I've actually seen a hen with only one poult. I know many variables may lead to this, but what could be the main contributing factor for this and what can be done to increase the number of poults?

Also, there is a flock of 3 jakes with 4 hens running together right now. Neither hen has a single poult with them. Are these likely young hens that have abandoned their nest?

Footballer,

I don't what can done increase number of poults but 3 poults per hen will stabilize a population.
