Title: Olive Wood - Christmas Trumpet
Post by: gergg on December 22, 2018, 08:19:09 PM
Figured I would turn this Olive wood blank into a Christmas day trumpet, just seemed appropriate. These blanks I have are super heavy/dense, and colorful, should make a great call.

I think that wood gets prettier with age also. Should be a good one

I might be able to get into this blank tomorrow, hopefully it will behave.

What is your favorite wood to work with so far Greg? Can you tell a different in tonal qualities from one wood to the other? I don't think I could tell any difference from my calling experience from Osage to Oak. I think it's more of a personal preference for looks but I am not the greatest caller either just curious on your thoughts thanks.

Hey Chris, I like all of them so far, but Genuine Lignum Vitae was the biggest pain as it sanded like concrete....lol.... I definitely hear differences between the various species of wood, sometimes subtle, but unique none the less.
