Title: Strong finish...
Post by: wvmntnhick on May 16, 2020, 09:22:26 AM
But not an upgrade unfortunately. Bird gobbled at least 100 times. Was gobbling right beside the truck when I got out. My buddy was already there. Said he'd been gobbling for a bit. First I'd heard was the 21st time he'd gobbled already since he'd been there. Made it as far as the front bumper of his Chevy Tahoe. Had few birds gobbling behind us too so he set up looking that way instead. Made 3 yelps once he hit the ground. Couldn't believe he left the hens with him but he got smashed before 6 a.m.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200516/ccb8727f03e1fbcb2907b6729c8a55bb.jpg)

The "blind" setup.

Awesome deal. Congrats. Did you smash him with the truck? Only joshing.

Pls provide the specs on him when you get a chance. He looks like a good 'un.

I didn't bother weighing him cuz he'd had to been 23# to improve my score with his spur being shorter on one side. One spur was 1" while the other was 1-1/8". Beard was 10-1/8" and I'm guessing his weight 20-21#. A good way to end the season. Funny thing was, I brought a rifle along today. Had crop damage permits for that farm and my buddy was to be the one doing the turkey shooting today. Had birds in front of and behind us. This guy come off the roost and well into shotgun range. He didn't think he could get around on him so I dusted him before he spooked away from the Chevrolet/Ford branded decoys we were using.
