General Forum / Re: Long couple of daysLast post by KYTurkey07 - Today at 10:50:18 PMMan, I am sorry to hear about the destruction. I was watching the storms as they moved across the country. They were strong here but nothing like what you guys endured. I'm glad to hear your house and building was spared. I hate it for your neighbors who weren't so fortunate. I'll be praying for you, your family and neighbors. Hope things get somewhat back to normal for you quickly.

General Forum / Re: Waste not, want notLast post by eggshell - Today at 10:39:09 PMI am truly sad that I read through this thread. If it was the very first thread I ever read on OG I would never have joined. However, I do believe some of the very best sportsmen, women and kind people of this great country are members here. I think this topic is like politics, a cancer that only spreads and causes pain, suffering and damage.
We eat every turkey I kill, but not all usable parts. I will not expound on that and if you want to categorically classify me in some demeaning state of human existence, so be it. My only concern is how my Lord and savior views me and he gave me domain over the animals of this earth. I believe that is a stewardship and a responsibility to take seriously. Not only are they a blessing for us to use however we see, but ours to care for and preserve. Once an animal is dead, it can still be part of the biome. If it lays and rots, it returns to the earth, if predators eat it it sustains the animal community. Nature waste nothing. So, I take what I desire to consume and I pitch the rest in my back woods. I have often gone back a couple days later and in most cases the carcass is completely gone. When an animal dies of natural causes, is it wasted? I cherish my relationships with you fellow OG members and I respect each of you and your opinions, but if my choice of what parts of a dead animal I keep so offends you then please tell me and if a majority find me repulsive I will gladly leave and never return. Scripture in 2 timothy tells me not to have anything to do with silly and foolish arguments and yet here I am.... #6

General Forum / Long couple of daysLast post by Gooserbat - Today at 10:32:40 PMNothing to do with turkeys but we took a direct hit from one of the tornados that struck Oklahoma/Arkansas. We got hit at 12:57 am. As in good Okie fashion I stood in the yard and watched until I could hear the train/blow-torch sound coming at me. Long story short God is good and the house and shops were unhurt. Lost a lot of trees and had a big mess but we're getting through it well enough and better than many neighbors who lost much more.
