TSS has launched the small subgauges into the turkey hunting world seemingly overnight, especially the .410 and 28. I jumped in this spring with a Mossberg International Youth SA-28 shooting Foxtrot 1.5oz of 9.5's. It accounted for a couple longbeards in a couple different states with maybe one late season hunt left. Shooting this little semi-auto is a pleasure. Who else is, or planning on, shooting the 28 gauge?
I have an 870 28ga that's threaded. Killed one this spring with it.
I took 3 this spring with a cz bobwhite sxs 28. I credit Doc Holliday on here for guiding through my set up. Chokes are from tru lock. The left barrel is xf for distance out to 40 and the right barrel is ic for work 25 and in. I shoot Hal's xl load 1 5/8 ounce with 9.5s in the left and a lighter 1 1/8 ounce load of 10s in the right, a load also from Hal. I sent the barrels to skinner sights and had a peep installed and an express style sight with a brass bead on the front. At the end of season, I had the barrels cerakoted sig gray (charcoal with a green hue). I'd post a pic if I cared to learn how.
This is a fantastic little 5 1/2 pound set up. I get 235 in the 10 inch with xf at 40. At 25, a very even pattern with the ic. One bird fell to the xf at 31 yards. The other 2 fell at 18 yards and 22 yards with the ic and 10s. As long as I have components, this little 28 is all I'll use going forward.
I have a Yildiz 28 o/u. It patterns well and I plan to hunt with it next year

All mentioned are great guns. I really like the double triggers on the Bobwhite.
Plan to add a 28ga before next year.
Stevens 555 28ga is a beast with 1 3/8 oz TSS 9's and and IC choke! I've thought about making a Mossberg sa-28 compact into a turkey killer though.

I wanted to lighten the front trigger but the gunsmith wouldn't for safety purposes. Otherwise, it's great.
Use a browning bps 28 gauge but have been looking at the bobwhite but curious how the barrels shoot poa to poi.
Sa28 here.... killed birds in 7 states this year. I love mine!!
I would just like to find just ONE 28 gauge to purchase... I got 500 shells and then went to go get a 28... I had no idea how difficult it would be to find one. It's like they stopped manufacturing them. I've been looking for over 7 months now.
I went to our local Scheels store yesterday and made a $11. mistake. I didn't have my readers on and grabbed a box of trap loads for my 20 gauge. Only when I got home, they were 28 gauge. I don't even know anyone with a 28. Can't takem back so I'll just give them away. Glad I only bought one box.

CZ will do a trigger job on bobwhites, it used to be free if still under warranty.

Sorry I'm just now getting back to you. The sight is set for the extended range and heavy load. I had a POI issue in the close barrel until I lightened the load. The lighter load shoots to the same spot now.
Thanks for the info shatcher
