Title: Scratch Box #1
Post by: gergg on March 24, 2015, 03:31:35 PM
Pretty cool this morning, I called up a big ole mature tom on heavily hunted public land with my homemade scratch box call, thing sings in the woods......long story, but unfortunately I missed him, how do you miss the periscope on a 20+ pound bird with a shotgun...lol

Don't let it beat you up. I did the same thing last year on my way out to my truck. I struck a bird with one of my scratch boxes on private land and called him over on to the property I was hunting, his head went up and I missed and this was a bird I've been after for some time.

Yeah, I hear ya, I've been hunting these things for a long time, missed a few over the years and know there will be others to come....but, still frustrating when it happens.

:funnyturkey: Nice to get a try with your own call. You guys may talk me into trying it. It will be a miserable failure, but may be fun. Good luck in the future. Al Baker

They are easy to construct, getting them to sound just right is something completely different.

Would be fun to exchange calls, I'm just figuring these things out, but could whip one up in a week or so. Send me your address on a PM and I will mail you one, if it sounds like a turkey you can send me one of yours, otherwise stick it in a box or burn it. ;D
