Title: Devotion, Tuesday, October 11, 2011

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;  the whole earth is full of His glory!" (Isaiah 6:3).

Isaiah heard these words as the seraphim sang to one another about God's holiness.  The seraphim knew and were certain about the Lord's nature.  He is the Holy One, and He is the Holy One who overflows with glory.  Man, what a concert that was!  I can't wait to hear it for myself!

The word "holy" is more than a description of God, it's one of His names.  It doesn't simply illustrate what God is, but also who He is and what He does.

He's not just the Lord of Isaiah and the angels and the departed saints in heaven.  No, He's more than that.  He is your Lord too.  By His death and resurrection, His holiness makes you holy.  In Christ, His holiness is your holiness.  Because He is holy, you are holy as well!

This is the good news of Jesus Christ.  It's good news worth singing about... and it's also good news to share with others.  Holy is the God of the Bible, overflowing with glory.  May the holy Lord give you an opportunity this week to speak of His holiness to others!
