Midway USA has it on sale a bit less than Apex. Wondering if anyone has anything positive or negative to say about it.  Apex is as good as it gets imo, just wondering what you guys think about the Hevi-18

Zeke, Here is an article Clark Bush (aka allaboutshooting) put out last September.  I haven't heard of anyone using the Hevi 18 loads.  I personally won't be going the 18 route unless I drop down to a 20 or .410.  I don't see the need.   https://allaboutshooting.com/blogs/blog/hevi-18

It is Hevi, so if you found a good lot then buy a bunch.

Thanks bbcoach, I ordered some of it. I'll shoot it at some paper and see how it goes.  I bet it'll work ????

Keep us posted with some pattern Pics.  I didn't elaborate but I shoot Hevi 13 7's and love them.  I've got enough to last a lifetime so I don't see any TSS in my future unless I switch to a smaller gauge.  My 835 with 3 1/2 7's put up 300 plus in 10 at 40.  I'm sure the 18 9's will follow suit.  I can't see spending $10 per shell when the 13's are very capable shells.

I agree. Even in the 20, I was getting 120 in the 10@ 40 yards with Hevi-13 3-1.25-7.
Rolled my best gobbler ever with that through a SumToy .562 and my Mossberg 20 ya turkey thug at about 40 yards.
In the 12's, it is a very capable load.

I got 4 boxes yesterday.
$37/box with free ship I figured I would give them a try.

That`s me pretty much exactly. I shoot a 12 870 Super Mag and have enough 3" Hevi-13 #6 to last the rest of my turkey hunting career. Love that load through a .660 Jellyhead. If I had more seasons in front of me I`d seriously consider converting to a 20, and it`d be TSS for certain. TSS is great but way overkill for 12 gauge IMHO.

It finally dried up here enough to shoot a little bit. I shot the Hevi 18 to see how they compare to Apex in my Franchi Affinity 20ga.  They're just about the same in my gun. At 40 I got 198 holes in an 8" circle (somebody gave me some targets that the holes show up better & they're 8"). I stapled the target in front of a 24x24 piece of paper.  The 198 was with Carlson's.565, the pattern was pretty even outside of the 8".   Jebs 560 @ 40 was 173 and there's a few holes in the pattern on the 24x24.
I had never shot tss any further than 40 until yesterday due to the price of shells and the fact that I don't really want to shoot a turkey past 40.  But I did and got 119 in 8" with the Carlson's.

Bottom line is, in my gun, they shoot as well as the Apex do. However if I had to choose between the two I'd go with Apex.
