Title: John Dangerfield sinker cypress
Post by: KentuckyHeadhunter on April 05, 2019, 07:08:15 PM
This is mud cured (aka sinker) cypress pulled from the Edisto River by John himself.  The mouthpiece is paper micarta with a hand carved cork lipstop and a Musk Ox boss with brass ferrule that starts out as a solid piece and is turned with the call.  A whole lot of work goes into John's calls, obviously, and they sound pure turkey.  These calls can be played "clean" but are designed for the raspy style playing. I'm really liking playing with this style trumpet.   John is no stranger to those low country boys.... including the Reverend Farmer.  I first met him at Billy Buice's house four or five years ago with Nitro and a few others.  This call is a proud addition and will certainly see the spring woods as ALL my calls do and should.

Beautiful workmanship.  I'm a big fan of John's trumpets. They have a unique sound to my ears.  I have one, in lignum vitae, and I don't see myself ever selling it.  Wouldn't mind having another one, but they are not so easy to get.

Very nice yelper!!  I have a couple from John and more on order. Good things can take time to obtain.

I hope that you get to call a Gobbler in with her this Spring.
