Title: Slow going
Post by: tanna114 on April 26, 2018, 09:30:01 AM
Sorry I haven't been checking in much, it's just been a terrible season so far. Been much colder than usual (first day I hunted with snow on the ground), still no leaves on the trees and the birds just aren't talking much. I hunted hard the first two seasons (10 days) and only got on one bird that was gobbling, but a coyote ruined that one.

Other than that one bird, I didn't even hear a gobble. On two different days on different farms I had a lone Tom come out in the field, saw my DSD jake and hen and paid me no attention at all. They just kept feeding in the field. Wouldn't even look my way when I called. No gobbling, no strutting, nothing. It's been the craziest season ever. Have a couple of buddies hunting around here that have experienced the same thing.

That being said, I still have a 5th season tag which starts in a week. It's starting to warm up, so I'm hoping that does the trick.

I'm also hoping to hop over to Missouri on a co-workers farm, but not sure if that will happen or not.

Good luck everyone!

Hang in there with them. This global warming winter has em a little behind.
