The base uses the holes that hold the rear sight on , it takes a TC no. 9949 weaver style base for 12ga only . They run about 25.00 in black matte . PM me if you cant find one I have one new in the package.

how far forward is the scope mounted. i haven't picked up gun yet

It mounts the same distance because the mount extends backwards to the receiver. The scope will mount normal place

thanks for info. looking at picture the sight is half way down barrel. i am going to mount a Burris FFll on it and thought that was to far. what chokes fit the barrel.

My 20 gauge was drilled and tappfrontera the end of the barrel from the factory, new last year.  It accepts the rifle scopr mounts/rails according to tc.  The 12 has a different rail that is specific to it, you can find on the tc web site.
