I see some expensive shells running around here.
I shoot a BPS with an Undertaker choke. I think the choke was 19 bucks.
I also shoot Winchester Supreme 3" No 5s. They run around 13 bucks at the Wal-Mart.
I killed 4 birds last year and I would say the farthest was 45 yards.
Am I missing something because they all hit the ground flopping.
Am I the only person using them shells?
I see some folks paying like 7 and 8 bucks a shell!!
I've shot nothing but Winny supreme 5s for the last few years and put about 15 on th ground. Gonna try Hevi 13 #7s this year just for the heck of it.
some guys like to tweak the formula - nothing wrong with that - the quest for the best makes all of us better.
its all in the quest for the best, shoot what works for you :z-guntootsmiley:

Advice #1. Don't change what's working for you.
If you're happy with the gun and pattern then none of the high dollar shells should hold any appeal for you. Don't sweat it. :icon_thumright:
I shoot that exact load Big J. Kills em dead every time.
have shot a many a bird with a winchester superX or supreme #5 shell
my main go to lead 12ga load

:TooFunny:you aint joking i never thought i would spend this kind of money on shells and chokes after being a lead head for so long, i swore i would never switch and now i cant get enough of the hevi

I was right there with you....I shot 3" winchester supreme #5s for years with success........I made the mistake of shooting a hevi shot magnum blend and the results are crazy. Needless to say I am now shooting hevi shot. To me half the fun is tinkering with your choke/shell combo.

Oh so true....
Big J, the best advice I can give you is to wait for a nice day, get a big piece of cardboard or paper, tape measure 40 yards and let one rip with your combo.. You may walk up to your pattern and be like WOW thats nice.. Or you may be like WOW, I have been getting lucky as you may find Holes and such in your pattern and in reality just a few pellets are getting it done..
my old man loves the winny supremes #5's killed quite a few birds with em' me i shoot mag blends..still cant convince my dad that the cost increase is worth it..old timers cant tell em nothin! lol  :z-guntootsmiley:
I was in the same boat a year ago. Shot 2oz fed 6s in my stock 1300 for 25 or more years, didnt need to pattern, used 1-3 shells a year at likely a dollar or so a shot. Then I found Old Gobble, between Hevi shot, chokes, recoil pads, sights, scope's, now a need for building a 20 gauge, with all the above stuff, plus likely a reloader for some tss, I will likely become homeless just to kill the same amount of turkeys, no deader than I did before I found this site. Maintain your ignorance and run before its to late. :help:
