Had given up on a spot this morning and was headed to the truck to go to plan B. It was getting breezy but I thought I heard a distant gobble. I thought no sense in driving away from a gobbling bird at 920 so I headed in that direction as far as I could get. I got to a corner of a field. The side I was on was public and the field was public. But the woods on the backside are private and he was several hundred yards down. He was far enough away that I wasn't sure he could hear my calls. After texting Derek for a tax map to double check I had no woods on the backside, I started walking down the field edge. I went about 150 yards and called. I was cut off by two very vocal hens and the gobbler. It wasn't long before they were sliding my way but still deep in the woods. I slid back 50 yds and hit them again. They were still moving my way. This time I dropped back to the public woods and got set up. It took awhile but ol' miss yackity yak dragged her boyfriend right to me! She walked by me at 10 yards and he was about 50 yards behind her. 25 yard shot at 1005. Even managed a slight upgrade!
Nice hooks too!

Gods of Thunder
Just been lucky getting birds that score slightly above the previous one.
Looks like the Crusaders will be the team to beat. Should be interesting once we get our 9 best birds posted up.
Sweet!
