Title: Black powder shells
Post by: appalachianstruttstopper on March 15, 2014, 10:34:11 AM
Any body on here ever load black powder shells to shoot in their old single barrels? My dad and I have been having fun with this for several years now. I have an old single barrel 3" 12ga I aquired on a trade about 25 yrs ago and we take old spent 3" shells, cut crimp off and decap, recap, load with 100g black powder, over powder wad, cushion wad, shot and over shot wad.

I have been more than impressed at how good this does, great patterns and alot of fun to shoot. Definetly mine is a turkey killer, and I love the cloud of smoke. To see the look on my friends faces when I pull the trigger in the woods and fill the hollar with a cloud. They watch me load up, They thinking regular winchester shell until the boom.
