Hey Y'all,
Purchased two Stevens 410 turkey shotguns. I'm sure a bunch of y'all have found the perfect load out for these guns.
What is the recommended add ons and load out?
Thanks!
I heard that some stock chokes shoot great right out of the box, mine did not. With advice from some fellas, I went with Foxtrot ammo, 383 strokers, loaded with #8s tss (NY). I went with a little more open choke, IC .390, because of #8s
being larger, getting an average of 130 in the 10"@ 40yards. I put a Bushnell T-25 red dot on it. As with any new gun, you'll gonna have to find what choke/load shoots best. I deep cleaned the barrel also with denatured alcohol...
Stock choke with Federal TSS 9. Squeaky clean barrel. Bushnell reflex.
Stock choke
Foxtrot 383 Stroker 410 3" 7/8 oz #9.5
Spotlessly clean barrel.
Sig RedDot.
Federal TSS #9 threw a pattern that was not as even as the Foxtrot.
Stock choke apex 9.5 hi viz fiber optic. Have taken several out to 45 yards
Thanks for the info! I am surprised to hear about so many folks running the factory chokes. I have heard a lot about guys running the Indian Creek chokes.
I also run stock choke, Bushnell T-25 red dot , and roll my own #8 tss.
Stock choke, 370 grain load of 9.5s from Hal, and vortex venom. Does mean things to turkeys.
Just ordered a Vortex Venom red dot today. Should/Can I use the stock mount that came on the gun or do I need to purchase an aftermarket one?
You can use stock mount I did. Sets a little high but no big deal with no more kick on 410.
I also run stock choke, Bushnell T-25 red dot and Federal TSS #9's
