Title: North Mountain Gear
Post by: wkyhunter on December 03, 2019, 11:21:41 PM
Looking at one of the Leafy Pullovers from North Mountain. Have one of the old Mossy Oak Diffusion pullovers, but looking for something for early season.
Kinda wish the Bottomland one was the "New" bottomland pattern. And I see they have one in the old Greenleaf pattern.
Decisions.... Decisions.... What say you? Bottomland or Greenleaf???

Really like the Bottomlands, but went with the Greenleaf as it matches the woods I hunt better.

I pre-ordered a greenleaf. If it doesn't fit, I'll list it here. I normally wear a small so I'm a bit concerned about their minimum size being a m/l.

I dont have the North Mountain but I do have the Redhead brand in both Mossy Oak Obsession and Break up Country for early season.

I just got the bottomland leafy pull over and I love it!

Get both! If you need to choose, I think the Greenleaf will fit early and late spring seasons a touch better. I got the Diffusion earlier this year and I am way impressed with the quality! Top notch!

I got a bottomland today, won't comment on it until I actually hunt it...It looks good but that don't always mean great things

I got the bottomland today also. I was concerned it would be too big for me since I'm a small guy but I think it's going to be fine. Seems to be good quality. Looking forward to trying it out.

What size do you normally wear? I wear a small normally but of course couldn't order a small. Mine hasn't arrived yet so that's why I'm wondering.

I wear a small/medium. I'm only 5'4" about 145lbs.  The jacket has a draw cord in the waist so I can cinch that up a little and it's fine.

Someone asked about the material..This is my bottomland next to a bass pro leafy jacket..The North Mountian seems well made I've had it on check trail cams..It has draw strings on the hood and also one on the bottom of the jacket. The pocket on the belly area of the jacket is really deep.

I normally dont do the leafy suit thing but that original greenleaf jacket looks like it may serve me well down here in the south. I just ordered one.

Any of you guys around 6'1 200 pounds and already have one? I ordered the greenleaf in a M/L size as I'm 6'2 185 (tall and lanky) and am a little concerned it might be too small.

I think you'll prob be okay with it.  Has a little extra length and drawstring for those who don't need it.  I'm not as tall as you but have a long torso and fits me fine.

If like NWTF Obsession, then it is the pattern with NWTF written in it somewhere.

Agree, but it wasn't the only change IMO, in person I think the green in the new NWTF version of Obsession is much brighter than it was previously. Almost too bright. Maybe just my perception.

Got mine today. I'm 6'1. 305lbs. Not a small fella, the xxl/xxxl fits, But  If I lost 15 lbs it would probably fit perfect. I'll try and snap another pic tomorrow if anyone wants to see a better pic. I've never hunted in a leafy suit, but I couldn't pass on it. I'm a sucker for green leaf.

I ordered the Diffusion top couple months ago when they came back into stock, and thanks to this thread, I tried but just couldn't resist the new MO Greenleaf top, so I order one of those.

I was wearing a Cabelas top, and the North Mountain Gear is hands down, night and day superior quality. The Greenleaf will be my early season go-to, and the Diffusion will be the late season go-to. I pre-ordered the Greenleaf pants too, anxious to see those when they ship!

For those that have one already do they completely conceal the clothing beneath? For example I have a orange Patagonia nano puff that is incredible for temp regulation but would this block out the orange when this is over the top? If so I'm buying one today.

I would also be interested to hear if anyone that purchased this suit could compare it to the nomad leafy suit as well?

I picked up a nomad in the stores last year. It was so heavy I immediately put it back in the rack. I like my north mountain gear so far. Dave Owens wears his all the time and he gives them a big thumbs up.

I would echo this, I tried on the Nomad it was heavy and seemed like it would be a good bit hotter than the NMG pullover.

Same here.  I went with the Greenleaf for the same reason.  I can wear it early in the season and later.

I'll grab some once I get it on and in the woods. I dont think that a balding, overweight, middle aged guy is gonna help much on the sales side but it will at least prove it can hide one.

How heavy and thick is the pullover? I like the looks of the bottomland, but it gets pretty hot down in Georgia in the spring. Don't want something that's going to weigh me down and get hot.

Mesh underneath, I'm wearing a 3xl/4xl weighs about as much as regular shirt for me. I'm in SC and it seems airy enough for the last couple weeks. First season with this brand, significantly lighter than the nomad leafy pullover.

Question...what is the sleeve length like? I found on the website where it lists the measurements. I'm 6'3" 190 with long arms. Large tall and 16 1/2-36/37 are typically the shirt sizes that actually cover my arm length. Occasionally I find a medium tall that works, but that size is rare. An XL is huge and baggy on me, though. Would a M/L pullover he even close to long enough in the sleeves? I know sleeve length is more on the XL/XXL, but I wonder if part of that is that the back of the pullover itself is longer. Thoughts?
