Title: I’m not hunting paper
Post by: ArkyRidgeRunna on January 24, 2020, 08:50:47 AM
Shooting my old Benelli m1 super 90 this year with federal #9.
What choke would give me a nice pattern at 40 but also not be super tight at 20 and under.
I hunt timber so there is times shots are rather close.
Thanks

Try your factory full and I bet it gives you that.

My M1 is not my turkey gun but I had it with me one day when patterning my other guns and threw a couple 3" Longbeard 6's downrange at 20 and 40 yards with the factory full choke and was pleasantly surprised.  I'd hunt it in a heartbeat.  Haven't tried TSS through it yet so I can't comment on those

This^^^. I get killing patterns at 40 from my Beretta (similar bore diameter) with 1.25 oz handloads with a lt mod choke. So if you really don't plan to shoot past 40 yds, a factory mod, imp mod, or full should get you there easily.
