General Forum / Re: Taking the safety off...sp...Last post by eggshell - Today at 05:55:38 AMIn 53 seasons and over 250 kill scenarios I have had one bird spook from the safety click and take flight. It was on public calling for a friend on the last day of season. The bird had probably been shot at before. I can't even remember a bird reacting to the click. If I am clicking the safety off he has about .5 seconds to react. However, if I see the bird approaching and know the shot is highly probable I will take the safety off before I am ready to shoot.

20 Gauge Turkey Guns / Re: MOSSBERG SILVER RESERVE T...Last post by Ridge Rooster - Today at 05:43:20 AMI bought a 20ga ATI Turkey Fowl, which I have been told is built by the same Turkish Manufacturer? Either way it has a really nice way to mount a Sumtoy mount as the rib is drilled/tapped. I was really happy with barrel regulation as I shoot the top barrel with an Indian Creek .562 and bottom with an improved cylinder Carlson choke. Barrel regulation was perfect as I set the open barrel up for 30 yards and in. I killed one with it opening weekend and really like the gun so I bought a 12ga same model. First the newer Indian Creek tubes would not thread in the barrel although any other Mobile threaded choke did fine? I did have an older Indian Creek .655, don't even think they offer this constriction anymore, that would thread in. Unsure what is different with the older choke threads? Anyhow the barrel regulation was not great. Sighting top barrel with Indian Creek, the bottom barrel is 6" low with anything choke wise I have tried. Also tried many different shells. Had an old Carlson 680 extended choke and started filing on it the other day to see if I can change the POI. It seems to be working as I have started the process and it appears that I have moved it a couple inches. Still trying and will file a little more this weekend to see if I can move it more.

Pot Calls Forum / Cody CallsLast post by The Baron - Today at 04:23:23 AMI haven't been paying much attention to turkey calls lately, other than some local makers. I've got a Cody Calls "The Woodsman" slate call in my vest that's been with my many years and sounds fantastic. I did not know Cody Calls was done, until I saw mention of that here and came across one for sale on eBay for north of $400 and near fell out of my seat. Now I'm not even sure I want to carry the call in my vest anymore, for fear of losing it. Might be time to retire it and carry something that's not essentially irreplaceable.
