Is there any decent public ground in northwest Nebraska? A buddy and I want to give it a try in another state.He wants to try and get a merriam.any info would be appreciated!

Nebraska nonresident tags are not available unless you have already purchased them.

All I know is the Chadron area draws a good bit of hunters from out of state. Mostly for deer, but you can see large flocks of Merriams out there. Lots of accessible land between Hay Springs and Crawford.

There are EXCELLENT opportunities in the NW part of nebraska. but heads up, it is no secret.  expect lots of company. we watched or listened to 4 other hunters tag out on birds we setup on before getting our  3 birds the year we went.  my advice get a half mile from the parking lot and start scouting for water sources.
