Title: Opening day decoy set up?
Post by: JonR26 on March 28, 2014, 02:12:35 PM
Tommorow is the opening day and I was wondering what you guys think is the best early season decoy setup for a logging road? I have two hens, one is a dual position upright hen that can be put in breeding position and a half strut jake which ones should I use and should I arrange them?

I would bring just the hens, I usually dont mess with a jake or tom right off jump. I would set If I am looking down the road and expecting the gobblers to come from 12 oclock I would set them up at a angle at 20 yards so as not to be in a direct line of sight from direction he should be coming in, also have them facing away from the direction he should be coming, I find it plays better when you call softly if the decoys are "acting" as if they dont care he is there. and you are purring and clucking.
