Is there anyone still waiting on their season to start? Hows every ones season going? Aside from my opening day success its been tough for me. Hunted day light to noon the last two days and heard total of 5 gobbles. Crazy for the amount of miles I put on. Expect things to get better come May.
Other than youth season I have been out twice so far. Once with my grandad and once solo. Killed pretty quickly in Md And slid over to Wv and almost killed another. He pulled a move one on me that I have never seen before. He aproached to about 80 yards surveyed the scene and flew into a tree for a better view before leaving. The woods are still really open and I didn't have much to work with. This coming weekend is gonna be trying to get one for the boy and after that I am burning a weeks vacation and getting serious. Not a lot of gobbling after they fly down but haven't had to much difficulty finding and getting a response.
It's shaping up to be the worst turkey season I can remember. Cold, Rainy, Windy and few turkeys. I think I heard a single gobble Saturday, the only gobble I've heard in 6 hunts. The only gobbler I have seen was strutting about 60 yards off the highway.
last week the weather was terrible. Cold, rain, snow, wind. I killed one Tuesday and missed 2. Not proud of that. Going to try and take next week off. Hope to tag out in WV and then hit Ohio.
Fine for me so far, got one Tom yesterday in Ontario and a better one today in Québec. Will post soon on the kill thread.
Congrats sir.

Had some friends up from Louisiana and headed to western Kansas for some Rios. Sparse vegetation and tree cover and henned up birds made it tough. Worked a ton of birds but seemed to do something wrong on each one. I stayed back and let them go, may have got too aggressive on wide open plains birds, bumped way too many. Buddy's dad did take this nice one who worked well.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180430/7608f586c11b5612e1240b002d806397.jpg)

Never hunted there, lots of giant birds in that area. I live about an hour south of there.

I am supposed to be on vacation but as the girls at my office have told me. I am the worst vacationer ever. I have been out every morning though and haven't heard a gobble since monday. So tomorrow is a change in scenery before I head to work again. Hopefully I at least hear one.
Not good at all. Big problems at work. 14 hours minimum for the last week. 17 yesterday. Was supposed to be on vacation last week. Bought Ohio license but may not get to use it. I'm beat and no end in sight at work. Got to go back in at 6 pm tonight.

Sorry to hear that Steve. I hope you aren't salary. Hope it ends for you soon and can get get back to the woods.
Yeah that doesn't sound like much fun. Good thing you made the most out of the time you had in the woods.

I am salary. An Electrical Engineer but do get some overtime or comp time. Problem with comp time is my turkey hunting season is almost over. That's when I need it. I need to retire.
Well seasons got a bit better. Seen 5 die and 2 missed so far. Been working on my second tag this week. Yesterday got on a bird gobbling on the roost but went silent when his feet hit the ground. Went to where I thought he would go but never saw him. Had to leave for work at 9. Hunted day light till noon today and walked 7 miles. Only found one bird who gobbled 5 times. He was with a hen and I got close enough to get 5 courtesy gobbles out of him. They were 120 yards into private or I may have been able to do something. I tried mimicking her in hopes she would come my way but she wasn't interested. Trying to come with a game plan for tomorrow. May pack some decoys and head after the bird who didn't gobble when he hit the ground.
Not sure I am going to get out much more. I got slammed at work so unless something gives it's gonna be weekends and maybe an evening here or there.
Tagged out in 3 states, just gotta get my mom on a bird this weekend!!
