Title: How to clean wings
Post by: blueyed-goof on May 12, 2011, 08:22:37 AM
I saw a mount that was pretty neat and if I get a really special bird would be a neat way to display my trophy.  But how would you go about cleaning the wings so that they don't end up stinking?

You have to go on the underside of the wing, make and incision about 4" long where the radius and ulna are and take the meat out. You would also have to take all the meat off the humerus bone as well, or even take the humerus bone completely out. If you look at the backside of a wing you can see where the meat is. It's not that hard but you need to make sure you don't cut into the feather area when taking the meat out. Hope that helps. Good luck,

Thanks for the replies.  Question though....what does the denatured alcohol do to keep the meat between the ulnare and carpometacarpus from stinking?

Thanks a lot for the help....I look forward to trying this in the future.
