I have about 4 project turkey guns going on at the moment. I am really excited about this 1. I bought an ithaca 37 3" receiver off the big gun auction site. I believe it was a police model due to the parkerized finish and no engraving. The forearm has flats filed into it where it would go into a cruiser rack. In my stockpile at home i have an older turkeyslayer barrel and a stocket along with a few screws etc it needs. Once i get it patterning I will duracoat the metal gray/green parkerized. Heres a few pics of the progression. Fully assembled it weighs 6lbs 15oz. With a regular stock it would be a little lighter(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230214/176a5c05c972090a8087b8a6727059b6.jpg)

It's coming along, can't wait to see the finished project......
Very nice! Killed my first turkey with an Ithica Model37 Featherweight!
Make sure to post up pictures when complete!
Ridge Rooster
those are awesome shotguns. looking forward to the finished picture.
I plan to try to pattern it a little today if i can get a spot at the range. Its hard to pattern a gun at the range i go to when you're shooting 1 shot and then a target change. Seems like there's always one person sending thousands of rounds downrange here. I have 2 chokes and 6 or so different loads from long ago i'd like to try.
I was going to start the duracoat process this week but my hardener was, well, hard (old). So have to order some new. :(

Nice! Looking forward to seeing how it does.
This is a cool project, and I'll be following along.
Well i was able to send a few downrange. Gun goes off like its supposed to. I cant get down far enough on the sights with the monte carlo stock. At least not far enough to not wail my cheekbone. Took a few shots bun none of the hot and heavy loads. I will try to locate a used stock with regular comb. I prefer that anyway. I plan to mount a reflex on it at some point.
Here's a pick with 3" win longbeard #5 at 35 yds. Shot is high but you get the idea. This is with a cabelas turkey choke .660. Will be spending more time with it when i get a different stock.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230220/d626d41271aa43858d6d2afdea34a608.jpg)

For comparison, my ohio made turkeyslayer same yardage with tss handloaded #9 2 oz. Factory choke tube. I gave this gun to my 13 y/o son to use a few months ago. This is his shot from today.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230220/b599506791b3ea08a84adbf607e1f9dd.jpg)

Nice shooting!
With the time change i finally had time to do a little to this ithaca mutt. Sanded and degreased the receiver and sprayed durafil on the deep gouges and dings. I hope to have time to sand it down and start laying on the durcoat next week(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230316/3d9d0ef6f4ec60776073cb58715010b7.jpg)

Looking real nice!
Finish turned out well. Its a gray/green parkerized duracoat. I backed off the last coat and turned up the air to lay it down a little dry to cut the glare a bit. The receiver has a broken carrier locking screw in it and im waiting on a tap set to try to remedy that. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230322/376e8d3b48fe53276c195a772ac8275a.jpg)

I finally had time to drill and chase the broken carrier locking screw and re-assemble the Ithaca mutt. Im still looking for a straight comb stock but will be shooting this a little as is. Eventually it will wear a reflex for my aging eyes

Looks great. Did you put those sights on it? Look like the ones on my Turkey Slayer.
The barrel was originally from an old turkeyslayer with sights. I bought just the barrel many years ago and finally mounted it to this receiver. If you look up in this thread you can see the barrel. It had a camo dip on it
