Title: citrus wood
Post by: Beards n bbq on July 16, 2018, 08:50:08 AM
would like to try my hand at pot turning, wondering if any of you all have tried using orange tree wood, very hard wood from what i've seen. thought i could cut some chunky blanks with a band saw.  could you let the blanks air dry and how long would you have to let them sit to dry through.  Thought i might put them in the attic and let the florida heat do its thing or would it be better to dry indoors slowly in a temperature and humidity controlled area? also, if going laminate, say upper and lower blank should grain run in the same direction or oppose one another, which would be more stable

for air drying a piece of wood,, for ever 1inch in thickness , you should let it dry 10-12 months, be sure to turn your stock over , so different sides are exposure to some  moving air flow,,,
