Any experience with Gobblin Thunder and the Federal Heavyweight?

A buddy of mine just shot this combo out of his 870 and the results were poor.

The ports are made in such a way as to act as "wad catchers".  Stay away from flight control wads and that choke as not only will your patterns likely be poor but you risk an excessive build up of plactic in the ports.

They work great with kicks chokes and Charlie Boswell says they are safe, lots of 10 ga. Guys running the federal heavyweight and kgt

I shot them through a variety of chokes a few years ago, the ported were the worst patterns, kicks ,jellyhead,puregold. The kicks was the worst and the jellyhead ws the best out of the chokes with wad stripping ports.
