I am wanting to complete the Grand Slam in the next couple of years. My question is if you had to choose 1 and only 1 state for each subspecies, which states would you go to? (Of course you have to go to Florida for the Osceola) Also, why would you choose each state?
Rio--TX, tons of birds
Merriam--SD, pure strain
Eastern--MO, lots of birds as well
Osceola: Florida- south of Orlando
Eastern: One of the southeastern states- GA, AL, MS or SC
Merriam: New Mexico or western Arizona- native range, beautiful scenery.
Rio: It's a toss up. Maybe Kansas due to public land access and amount of birds, statement can be echoed for western Oklahoma.
Rio- Oklahoma.
Merriam- NW Nebraska
Eastern- MO but I'd like to try upstate NY or Wisconsin
Eastern - Delaware, because that's where I live
Rio - Kansas
Merriams - New Mexico
and I'll add Gould's - Arizona
I've got three down, two to go.
Eastern - East Coast
Rio - Kansas PTO outfitters =really exciting hunt
Merriams - New Mexico Tri state outfitters = fantastic hunt on 300,0000.00 acre ranch
Florida bird Swamp Gobbler outfitters 2018
Goulds = Mexico
Peacock Turkey = undecided
Once I finish up my slam which is at the top of my bucket list it will be Elk, Bobcat and Lynx but not nessasarrly in that order. Already have the Mountain Lion. Then the pressure will be off
