Title: Striker Material
Post by: BA-IV on February 29, 2024, 09:25:04 PM
If you had to have one striker to pack to the woods to kill a bird day in and day out, what material would it be and from who?

Hard to say from who, but a laminated wood striker like Frogwood or Rutland Dymondwood.

Crazy as it sounds a two piece dymond wood with a maple top.

Due to overall sound and compatibility across different surfaces, I'd want frogwood from Jeff Harrison.

Hickory and I got a two piece striker with wax or some sort of coating like resin that makes the striker waterproof that was made by a guy I bought a custom call from 2 years ago

Those are probably my favorite of all time. I haven't taken mine to the woods in a while because I'm afraid of losing them.

FYI.  For those of you that love birch laminated strikers, Frogwood is a laminated birch hardwood that is dyed different colors and makes some GREAT strikers, in my opinion.  For me, it is hard to beat on any surface and dymondwood would run a close second.
