Picked this beauty up today as I retire one of my half horse rikon lathes. Fella's it's a world of difference going from a half horse to 1 horse...so much more power. That's why I have been waiting to replace a few of my older lathes since I got the nova DVR 7 years back. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190622/966174569324a29c23c926d402229ce1.jpg)

Bunch of folks saying they heated up pretty good. One guy even took a video and the temp was Over 100 degrees. I saw one earlier this week while I was in Colorado at a woodcraft and the sales man said "they do get warm"

That's not good ..
I have had issues with my nova getting warm while working on it...
If this one does the same I'll bounce to a jet and get my money back..I cant afford to be a lathe down with current work load in the shop

I've wanted the 1216 since it first came out. That's the only complaint I've seen on it. Keep us posted. If yours does the same I will save to get the 1836

If you are wanting a lathe that won't heat up. Get one with a Leeson 220v DC motor. Smooth. fast. quiet. I've run one for 6 hours W/O turning it off and 20+ hours start/stop.
Just got my 1216 about a month ago. Initially they bearings get hot until they break in. Mine would get to 115 deg within a few minutes without any load on em. Got about 10 hours of run time on it and the heat issue resolved itself. However they still make noise like one of them is bad. If they dont replace it under warranty soon im just going to order a set . I think the company you can order from is cxb, and they run about $12 a set. I upgraded from a delta 46-250
