I went by to see Lonnie Mabry this week and picked up a few calls. his stock is as low as I have ever saw it for this time of year. He said that he has been going to the Doctor a bunch over the last few months and hasn't built as may calls as normal. He was working on scratch boxes while I visited.
I picked up an aluminum, glass and slate all in pecan pots. First ones that I have seen him have in a while. Also, picked up a persimmon/walnut scratch box and a purple heart/walnut box call. As always, we talked turkeys and calls for a couple of hours.
Here are a couple of pics

Nice haul. Great calls for sure.
Good looking calls, I'm hoping to make a trip to visit with Lonnie when I head to turkey camp in North GA this March.
That's a nice group of calls! I picked up a pecan/glass call from him when I went in November. That's a great combo.
You guys,,,you get to just swing by those southern call makers and grab some!! Up here in Minnesota I'm lucky to pick up Chinese food and have it still be warm when I get home.

I'm with you. Michigan is frozen too.
Congrats on some fine callers.

That seems like a choice.
But please, stay up there, the south is almost filled with move ins ;D
Nearest Chinese food is 45 miles from my house, I can stand on my porch and hear gobblers every spring. I'll take the gobblers over Chinese food any day.
My buddy Clardh and I go every year on our trip to UNICOI and, yes, this year, he had a "slimmer" collection.
I was looking for a little jet slate that he makes, for a friend and he didn't have any. He mentioned the medical stuff and that that messed him up on call making.
Hopefully, next year, he'll be squared away and back to full production.
He makes a great little scratcher (he'll give you lessons on how to run it), and that jet slate...That stuff just does something for me...
Great looking calls sixes and sounds like an awesome visit, hope Lonnie is feeling better soon and able to do what he loves to do, what an awesome guy!
Very nice! I'm jealous. How far is Mr. Mabry from unicoi? I'll be making that trip in Jan. 20 from Wisconsin. If he's not too far would certainly be worth a trip.
