Post by: darron on April 18, 2018, 07:38:55 PM
Anyone try the Carlson 575 and TSS 9? Curious what patterns you are getting with the Carlson.

Out of a Franchi Affinity Compact the .575 was a hair too hot for me in a 2 3/4" 1 7/16 oz hand load 9s. Did around 300 in the 10". I opened up to a Trulock .585 and much prefer the pattern. It's around 240-250 in the 10" and almost identical numbers in the 20". Very even 20 inch wall of death and is really forgiving at 20 and in.

I am shooting the carson out of my benelli m1 20 gauge using my hand loaded tss 9's.  It gives me a better pattern than the indian creek so I am sticking with it.

I'm shooting a 575 Carlson's with a Big 20 XL hand loaded TSS #9 out of an 870 compact 20. I'm getting around 250 in the 10" and 250 more in the 10-20". My son's gun and Carlson's didn't shoot them as good even though it shot the hvy wt 7s excellent. We went with a primos tightwad in his with close to the same results as mine.

I hand load my own tss 9's and I patterned both the Carson's and Indian Creek in my benelli 20 gauge m1.  My gun likes the Carson choke better.

Yep. Out of a 26" barrel. Impressive, but way tighter than I want to take hunting.

I can't remember the numbers when I patterned the gun last year but it has been a great hunting combo for me. I killed one bird with it last year (my first season), then limited out with it this year (my first "serious" season). It is getting a little makeover before next season but I don't think I will be changing the choke/load combo. I'm shooting the Big XL load.
