Ok I have a Yingling copper/glass in sappy cocobolo on the way with a matching fiber and wood striker. I'm wanting to pick up a custom Striker to go with it. I know there a lot of guys here that do very good work so I'm more less asking what type of wood would you suggest. This is my 1st copper pot so you're knowledge is very much appreciated. Here's the strikers I have that stay in my vest and have for quite some time. Thanks

Woodhaven 2 piece Hickory
Woodhaven 2 piece Purple Heart
Knight and Hale 1 piece Jatoba
Knight and Hale 1 piece Yellow Heart
Primos 1 piece Cuttin Stick Diamondwood
Primos 1 piece Tripple 7 Diamondwood
H.S. plastic Black Magic stick

Contact Jeff Harrison on here.  He goes by JLH.  Tell him what you want to run and buy whatever he tells you.  His strikers are top notch and he's a really nice guy.  Dont tell him I told you about him because I think he hates me.  He keeps sending me great strikers and making me order more.  His canarywood striker is really, really good on my yingling copper.

Thanks Gobbler2577 and JLH is definitely on the short list. Have read a lot of good things about him.

I like lights out Osage and Matt McClain black locust. Lights out Cedar for really soft calling. If it's wet a Bill Baublit blood wood acrylic tip.

Coyote1 checked out Mr. Baublits site and he sure makes some purty ones.

Call Mr. Fowler, tell him what you have and what sound you want then buy what he says.

Nothing wrong with the one that comes with it.

I know that but you can never have to many strikers. I'm sure it will sound different with wood?

Yes Mr. Fowler makes some very nice strikers to.

Mike is a Great call maker.  I would call Mike and ask him for his Professional opinion.  He designed it and has put in hours of experimenting with different strikers so...........

I received 3 strikers from JLH the other day, so I tried each one out on my Yingling copper. I have several strikers, in the popular woods that most turkey hunters have. Well..  the Cumaru and the Red River Gum played that call like nothing I have ever heard. The black and white ebony did good, but that copper will flat sing with the cumaru. Just my 2 pennies.

Yes sir Mike is awesome and he and I texted back and forth discussing this yesterday before I posted. I already have his 1st choice after the carbon rod that comes with it. Just thought it would nice to hear what everyone else likes on their Copper which would lead to me getting to buy another striker. So...... Lol

Thanks for taking the time to try those out man. That's good info.

Yes he does. I like his acrylic tip on most metals particularly copper. His regular blood wood is my favorite on ceramic.
