I just got a cocobolo and buffalo horn trumpet from Matt McLain. Excellent wood, craftsmanship and sound. Very easy draw. I really like this trumpet. Can't wait to try it in the woods this weekend.

Got one just like it. Matt makes a fine trumpet!!
Great horn!!
That's a fine one for sure.
Had a chance to meet and talk with Matt recently. He and his calls are 'top shelf', however, you should see his daughter shoot sporting clays. A fine young lady and a great shot! Enjoyed visiting with them.
You never know who your going to meet. Hope we see you again.
Recently aquired a rose myrtle trumpet from Mr.McLain. It is a great trumpet.
Here are the results of one of Matt's trumpets.. This one is an ivory mp. I'm hunting with the buffalo horn one now.

Nice Matt, hopefully the bone you just sent me accompanied by my McClain trumpet will produce the same results!
That's a nice looking trumpet. What's the wood? In terms of sound quality, do have a preference between ivory & buffalo horn mouthpiece?
Same wood as yours. The way the picture came out doesn't show the grain of the wood. It has a CA finish. My buffalo horn has an oil finish. To me, the ivory has just a little brighter sound to it. Here again, to me, I think the bh will play just a tad softer. Course that could all just be in my head.
I wish they had labeled the wood as gunstock grade English walnut as I described. Excellent wood!!
Hey I got your gunstock walnut and what a beauty. Had it cranking some tunes tonight, didn't get a response but I sounded pretty good!!! Well- in my mind anyways.
