Does anyone make a mount for a red dot that has protection for the side of the optic?

Yes, Warbird Turkey Calls makes a shield for the sides: He makes them for Burris FF2 and 3 also Vortex Venom .. You can contact him and see if he has anything you might need ..

I don't know if they are still making them, but I found a Sumtoy sight protector/mount all in one that is absolutely awesome. I would try reaching out to William and he might be able to hook you up if they are!
