Title: A little choke help
Post by: dgdukefan on May 09, 2019, 04:20:52 PM
I'm shooting a 20 gauge 870 compact with 21" barrel and vortex venom sight. Currently have the Trulock heavyweight 7 choke using federal tss #9. Im getting 190 pellets in 10" circle at 40 yards. Should I be looking at another choke? If so what do you suggest?

My son and I are both shooting 21" barrel 870s with hand loaded TSS#9.  We are getting around 250 in the 10" and 500 in the 20".  I am shooting a Carlson's 575, and he is shooting a Primos Tightwad.

With that said, 190 pellets in the 10" is good enough if there are no holes in the pattern.
