What is a good combo for a scratch box?

Just like box calls, there are a lot of great wood combos for scratchers. I have them in all-Walnut, all-Poplar, all-Red Cedar, Snakewood, Sapele, Holly, Butternut.....All these combos could kill a turkey in the right hands.

Couldn't agree more! I got many different combos as well and the only limiting factor with any of them is my ability to play them well.

I called two gobblers to the gun last spring with an all-Red cedar. If spring turkey season started tomorrow I would have a Snakewood/Holly, a Sapele/AYC, and an all-Walnut in my vest.

My personal favorite is a walnut box with either a cherry or padauk striker.
