Title: New red dot
Post by: thundrchikin on February 17, 2021, 09:04:36 AM
Thinking of purchasing a red dot for my son's Mossberg 20ga. I'm looking at either the Burris or Vortex brand just not sure on which size dot to buy..Any info would be appreciated pro/cons on either brand and pros/cons on dot size..thanks

I have a Sig Romeo 5 (with a 2 MOA dot) on a low profile mount. I really like it.

I have a 3moa, 6moa, 8moa. They are all good. You can dim the larger dots down with brightness settings. The good news about the larger 6, 8 moa is when the dot covers his entire head and waddle, pretty good bet he's out of range. Acts like a mini built in range finder. I do like the 3 moa too. It's all a matter of preference. The Burris, Aimpoint, and Nikon Spur is what I have experience with. They are all good in their own way. Best of luck....hope I didn't confuse you..

I have a Romeo 5 and two FF. I like them all but prefer the FF for field of view. Just a personal preference
