Need a quick recommendation for a choke tube in my sons 20 gauge. He is shooting an Escort 20 gauge with a 21inch barrel. We currently have a Carlsons .565 Extended Turkey choke in the gun now and I would describe it as OK shooting TSS #7s and #9s. He did kill a turkey with the gun this spring which is awesome.
I would like to max the potential of the gun with a reasonable hunting pattern for 25 yards out to maybe 45 yards, again with the same loads Fed TSS #7 or #9. Most of our shots are somewhat closer due to the thick nature of our property however we do have opportunities for shots out to 50 plus.
I have looked at Sumtoy, Jebs, Carlsons, and Indian Creek and they all seem to have chokes that are around the .560 mark in the remington 20 gauge thread pattern. I think this is where we want to be, but which one. It gets expensive and I am looking for recommendations.
I shoot a sumtoy 562.5 in my benelli cordoba and in my winchester sx3.

I'm shooting an IC .555 in my Win Longbeard SX3 and am VERY satisfied with it's patterns !!!
Gobble Nole, what choke tube did you end up going with ? I just purchased the same gun for my wife. I am going to try the factory .565 extended choke tube that came with the gun, but I am also thinking of trying a Carlsons .575.
try a carlson .575

Thats what I want to try. Just waiting for the WI weather to break, sub zero here, the last two weeks.
I have the PS youth 20 model with a 22" barrel. I use a trulock 585 with the rem choke threads in it. I have found that the federal 1 5/8 oz #9 loads are mediocre with that combo. I shoot the same load with Apex and the pattern is fantastic. I have friends that have the same gun that found similar results. Sometimes the load can make a big difference in the pattern.
