Can a bird still be mounted if it is missing a patch of feathers thats maybe a two inch circle. the spot is just above the beard.

The bird can be mounted with the missing feathers and you will be able to see it. Or you can get another cape for it and mount it with another cape and you wont be able to tell. I would go with another cape because the missing feathers is just not going to look good.

Yes it can be mounted, a good bird taxidermist keeps extra parts on site for repairing damaged or missing feather. I do it all the time, fixed 1 yesterday that was shot in the side and trough the wing.

Were the feathers missing before the shot or did it happen from the shot or the flopping afterward?  If it was there before, I'd want to leave it since that's how he was when I shot him.  That just my opinion.
