Can someone explain the tonal and other differances between a trough and pot call, all variables being the same?
I know the designs are different, just wondering about the pros and cons of each when compared
With a pot call you have a lot more range of sounds you can get out of the call, because of the bigger surface. The Trough calls are a great closing call to use, clucks, purrs, softer yelps, are great on them, and some will flat out scream depending on the call and what surface is on it. You can change the tone of a pot call, just by playing the edge or center of the call, with a trough call it's very hard to change the tone because the surface is supported all the way across the call.
Thanks for the info.
I went ahead and just bought one to see for myself.
