Has anybody shot tss using the stock turkey choke that come with this model? Most likely i will go with Carlson .575 as Fl-Boss recommends.
I have the SA-28 instead of the SA-20 and the factory full shot nearly identical to the Briley XFULL.
I have the mossberg sa 20ga turkey gun. I have a Carlson heavy weight tss and longbeard xr choke. I havent used any of them yet. If i cant find what i want. Fixing to start reloading some.
Carlson .575 is "all-around" good for all the Turkish SA guns.. Moss SA-20, Weatherby SA-459.. and the Tristar G2. These are all pretty close to the same gun....pretty sure they are made in the same factory. It seems no matter what choke you though at it.. they are all pretty close. I think the more important than the choke, is the shot.. shoot #9 TSS when permitted.
Here's some patterns with a Carlson unported. 565 tube(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220103/68b621839e296d23d3e1548e32e53ad7.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220103/c9ef9e83c0cbd446016fa5e0e3dd3f48.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220103/fa473869ae189852fdde1c8eca3cf229.jpg)

I have hunted with the SA 20 turkey thug for years. The Carlson .575 is the only tube I use, The thing is hard on the Gobblers!
I have shot the turkey thug version for a few years now, did well with the factory tube which is supposed to be like a .580 from what I have heard, bought a Indian Creek .555 and it is pure evil, however the tube is getting gouges in the wad catchers, checked with Indian Creek and they said it was normal.
I assume at some point it would have an effect on the patterns but does not seem to at this point!
Happy those 8.5 look wicked, I was looking at that choke recently.

Thanks, I think all three gave me a pretty good pattern and will work fine for the ranges I shoot. Would have been nice if the heviweight would have had the same poi though.

I have the regular version of the mossberg SA-20. I've shot TSS 9's and LB XR through it and it produces a nice tight even pattern. It's good enough I haven't gone away from it.
I just finished building a mosserg SA20 Turkey. I have a .560 TSS Jellyhead shooting apex #9s at 35 yards it's and absolute killer.
Has anyone checked the constriction on the factory extended turkey tube? I heard it was approx. .580?
I can mic mine later this evening
.59 on the exit side and .62 on the entry side
.590? That seems open but it does shoot quite well. Happy was that the tube that came with the turkey thug?
No sir, this was the newer SA-20 after they dropped the Turkey thug logo. It was the factory choke.
Mine is the thug version but I bet the tube is the same?
It shoots quite well.

I measured again with my good metal calipers and it is showing .589
Seems a bit open but if it works it works for you. I have never patterned it with the factory choke myself.
I just got the 26" barreled SA-20. I shot it today with my handload 9s and the Carlson LB .568. It shot very well. I am wanting to get an IC to try but at this point I am planning on using the Carlson .568. It averaged 295-300 in 10" at 40 yards.

The Indian Creek will put up better numbers, however keep in mind that the wad catchers will get beat to hell and Indian Creek said it is normal.
I would think it will become an issue at some point?
