Or, at least it was.  Briefly.

It was a balmy 36 degrees Saturday morning.........(52 degrees warmer than 2 Saturday mornings ago).........so I decided to do some scouting.

So I took my coffee cup out to the sunroom and opened the slider.    :TooFunny:

The boyz were just a gittin' er !!!!!!!    There were (guessing) 6 or 7 hammering on the ridge to the southwest.  And another couple (later, my neighbor said at least 4) going off way back the valley to the east-northeast.

Also heard bluebirds and robins.  But phooey on them.  The first REAL sign of spring is upon us !!!    :you_rock:   :gobble:   :you_rock:

Another sunroom slider scouting trip this morning.........

Birds on the southwest ridge were going at it.  And one mouthy hen off to the east.

Great to hear !!!

Still too early around here... I've been in the woods running traps the last few weeks and it's been in the 30's for the most part so I'd be tight-lipped too. I have anywhere from 3-5 gobblers showing up in a food plot everyday so hopefully they will stick around.

I have another spot 20 minutes down the road where I had a boatload of hens and a couple jakes during deer season but no longbeards. I normally have a couple show up during turkey season though so I'm not too worried.

That's odd.

It was 2 degrees here yesterday morning.  I didn't stick my head out.  But it was 24 or 25 this morning when they were gobbling.

Maybe we have Eskimo turkeys around here.    :toothy9:

Here in Mississippi, at least where I'm from, they don't care to talk very much when it's this cold out. Now that's not saying they haven't been a little vocal on the roost...but by the time I get to the woods it's already past fly down time.

A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409
