Looking for some recommendations on a raw or stoned aluminum surface in a WOOD pot that is a 2 sider with a flush mounted (not countersunk) slate on the bottom. I like the size diameter of Ed Jenkins slate bottoms and Dustin's (Blackstone) slate bottoms. Trying to find the sound of a Dawkins but with a wood pot in a 2 sider configuration. I know there are some slick anodized options out there but that is a last resort for me.

Have tried the Persimmon Hill green blasted with the slate on the bottom. Very nice call, excellent customer service but the sound is way to mellow for me. My brother has the silver thunder extreme from Enticer. Very nice call and really good sound but would rather have a wood pot vs. a corian pot.

May have to wait on Jenkins later in the year. Anyone ever have Ed build one like this before?

Received this from Ed just before the season. Blasted aluminum over slate. Does play more mellow, but that's what I wanted. Very pleased

Ed does make a nice double sider. I had an osage plain aluminum with slate on the back that sounded really good. I think the double siders are more mellow sounding by design.

Olin humphries makes a great double sider also. My experience with his is limited to a black cherry ceramic, it is somewhat mellow sounding also.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I may need to think about it a while and possibly go another way.

Olin's and also Misfire double siders are excellent.  Slate is recessed but the sound is excellent.

Just because one is an "over/under" don't overlook them. All this means is the slate soundboard is also now a soft talker for you too.

Brad Roberts used to make a Maple over/under, aluminum top surface with the slate soundboard. He now makes two siders with a flush design, but those old Maples were BAD to the bone.  I know Hallorans Sugartown Sweetness is the same way but with glass top. I'd imagine you could order aluminum top surface instead from David if that's what interests you. His aluminum's aren't mellow at all.

I so wish Brad was still making calls regularly. Would like to try one of those over/under pots.

Very happy with this one. Front end and rollover similar to a Dawkins. However,  she's got a nastier back end on her  :z-flirtysmile3:
